Pancakes & Prayer funds raised already will feed 1,200 children!
All supporters encouraged to send in donations!
Bishops’ Appeal and the Church of Ireland Youth Department are delighted to announce that our Pancakes & Prayer fundraising appeal through Lent has raised enough money to feed 1,200 schoolchildren in South Sudan.
Pancakes & Prayer has been supporting Fields of Life’s Thrive Programme which serves children in Ibba and Maridi, where many families regularly go without clean water, food and the everyday comforts that we take for granted. The programme’s aim is that every child helped by this ministry can say: “I am educated, I am fed, I am safe, and I am loved.”
In particular, the Thrive Programme provides food for children and young people from gardens in school grounds. It costs about £8,000 per year (€10,000) to set up and keep a school garden going. Each one can feed up to 3,500 children for a year for less than €3 (£2.50) for each child.
Leaders are now encouraged to send in all the donations received so we can make the campaign go even and ensure that more children have the food that they need. Donations from youth groups and schools can be submitted on the following page: https://store.churchofireland.org/donations/the-bishops-appeal
If you are reading this for the first time and would like to give your support, this would of course also be very welcome!
